It is the time of year that we are heavily investing in youth and children's lives via camps and VBSs on the CIS Field. This coming week there will be a tent camp in Armenia, I believe there will be a camp in Ukriane, there will be a VBS in Volgograd, Russia and I will be heading to Armenia with two young ladies from Chalter, Russia to join other young people to begin our final preparations for the traveling team's 3 VBSs the first three weeks of Aug. In the coming weeks there will be a camp in Chernivtsy, Ukraine, a District teen camp in Moscow, Russia and VBSs in Peeteemorsk, Russia and Chisinau, Moldova.
For myself it comes down to months and months of praying and seeking God's direction for this year's VBS since Word Action did not produce any new materials for the second year in a row. With the gracious help of Olga Druzhinina, who translated what I was able to put together into Russian and Anna Artsrunyan Jara, who translated the material into Armenian, we are looking forward to presenting a VBS with the theme Fruit of the Spirit - Big Heart Farm - Where God's Fruit Grows. Please mark these weeks and as God directs pray for the children that will be attending each church's VBS; pray for the youth that will be sharing God's love with the chidlren during the week; pray for the parents and grandparents of the children that God would work in their lives through the children; pray for the closing program on Fri. afternoon each week when we will be presenting a short program to share with the parents and relatives the Bible verses learned that week, songs learned and a recap of the Bible stories; pray for the pastor of each church as they share with the group and give an invitation to return and worship together on Sunday.
Aug. 5-9 Akhuryan Church Pastor Seyran and Anna
Aug. 12-16 Maralik Church* Pastor Hamlet and Anna *note we will be meeting in our brand-new church building - a dream come true
Aug. 19-23 Gyumri Church - this will be a restart ministry,
I would also ask for prayer for traveling mercy as the Chalter young ladies and I fly into Yerevan at different times and will be carrying in the remaining crafts, decorations and other supplies for these 3 weeks ( nearly 1000 crafts). Praying that we will not encounter any trouble with the arrival of our checked luggage and no difficulties as we pass through customs at the end of our journey.
Looking forward to the wonder of what God wants to do in and through us as we invest in the lives of children and young people in the weeks to come. Thank you for your prayers, care and concern for sharing the Good News and deepening the roots of those who are following Christ on the CIS Field.
